Hi there and welcome to thisbrightonmum.com. You’ve come to this page so you’ll be wanting to know a little about me… I’m Vicki, married to a wonderful man called Josh and we have a little girl who is 2 years old. We live in Brighton with our two cats Angel and Princess (we didn’t name them OK?) and I started this blog in 2016 as a way of filling the void that has appeared due to not being able to update my travel blog wayoutfar.com anymore.
I had been wanted to write about the day-to-day life of being a parent because it’s hard, yet amazing, but HARD yet very, very awesome and needed to brain dump my musings somewhere!
I also wanted to try and find the funny and light side in it all, so often get all pretend shouty and ranty in posts about The Stupid Things I Said Before Becoming a Parent or finding Toddler Tantrums amusing. I also sometimes get all melancholy and thoughtful in posts about when our Little One was a small, small person.
I am a full-time working mum too (I work for a software company that specialises in social media) and want to try and share as much about that experience as possible. I often work from home with our Toddler and talk about that in posts like this although it is hard and I don’t want to hide that fact in any way. Warts and all! I feel very strongly about ensuring that women have enough knowledge about their maternity rights and that parents know how to work with their employers to get the best deal for flexible working.
I post a couple of blog posts a week at the moment although I post on Instagram every day so if you’d like to keep up to date with what’s going on please come and follow me there although you can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.
